Orissa Manganese & Minerals Limited is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Adhunik Metaliks Limited, which is the flagship company of the Adhunik Group. OMML is engaged in the business of exploration, development, mining and processing of mineral assets. The Company has valuable merchant resources of iron ore and manganese ore in Jharkhand and Orissa, which are available for sale in the open market. These mines represent 'textbook deposits', which is the industry's way of saying that they represent an ideal balance of unmistakable ore evidence, ore richness and easy accessibility (low mine–strip ratio).
The Company has six manganese ore mines in Orissa and one iron ore mine in Jharkhand. The complement of manganese ore and iron ore deposits – rare combination– positions the Company among the few leading global mining firms. The Company's strategy centres around optimum exploitation of the wealth inherent in its mines, that ensures value addition, utilization of waste/ rejects for value maximization and infrastructure creation for long term and sustainable cost benefits.
In addition to the own mines of OMML, the Company had entered into a Joint Venture (JV) with M/s. B. C. Dagara, the lessee of Suleipat iron mine. The above said JV was approved by the Government of Orissa by giving Single Window Clearance. Suleipat iron ore mine is located at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj District of Orissa. The mine is spread over an area of 618 hectare. The mine has obtained required forest approval (Working Permission) from MoEF to start mining operation in 294 hectares of Forest Land already broken up prior to 1980. The dispatches from the mines will start very soon.
